Birth, Death, and Marriage records are available through the Register Of Deeds office for persons who were born in, died in, or married in Brunswick County only.
Adoption records are not available at the Brunswick County Register of Deeds. Contact N.C. Vital Records for assistance with adoption records at (919) 733-3526.
Uncertified Copy Of Vital Record
To obtain an uncertified copy of a vital record, do one of the following:
- In person: Go to the Register Of Deeds office, 75 Courthouse Drive, Building I, at the Brunswick County Complex in Bolivia. The fee is $0.25 per copy.
- By mail: Complete and sign an Application For Uncertified Copy Of A Vital Record form. Submit form and fee to:

The mailing fee is $0.75 for the first copy and $0.25 for each add'l copy (same record)
For vital record on a person of another county, contact either that county directly, or the Vital Records Section at:

Certified Copy Of Vital Record
To obtain a certified copy of a vital record (see NOTE on birth certificates), the eligible person must:
- Complete and sign an Application For Certified Copy Of A Vital Record form.
- Submit form, in person or by mail, along with $10 fee (cash, check, money order) per copy.
- In person, present a government issued ID (drivers license). If by mail, include a copy of the ID.

- You may also contact Vital Records in Raleigh to order a copy of a North Carolina birth (1913-Present), marriage (1962-Present) or death (1930-Present) record on file. The Vital Records Section also has an arrangement with a private company that offers online, phone, and fax requests.

- NOTE: Citizens who were born in Brunswick County and applying for a passport are required to submit either a Vital Records issued birth certificate from Raleigh OR a Brunswick County birth certificate issued on or after May 1, 2009.
Eligible Persons
Certified copies of vital records may be obtained only by eligible persons, as described below:
- Yourself
- Your spouse
- Your mother / father
- Your sister / brother
- Your child / grandchildren
- Your grandmother / grandfather
- Person seeking information for legal determination of personal or property rights (proof required).
- An authorized agent, attorney, or legal representative of the person named on the vital record.
NOTE: Uncertified copies of vital records are available to the public.
