Passports

Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm

As a Passport Acceptance Facility, we will accept your completed DS-11 application for a new passport and forward it to the Passport Services section of the U.S. Department of State for an issuance determination. At least one check or money order is required (see fees below).

Requirements

All applicants submitting passport application Form DS 11 must:

  • Appear in person between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm, M-F;
  • Submit proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate*, expired passport, naturalization certificate);
  • Submit proof of identity (NC driver's license, military ID, other government issued ID);
  • Provide a recent 2"x2" high-quality photograph.

*Beginning April 1, 2011 all certified U.S. birth certificates required to list parent(s) full name. To order a new birth certificate from another state click here.

NOTE: Citizens who were born in Brunswick County and applying for a passport are required to submit either a birth certificate issued by Vital Records in Raleigh or a Brunswick County birth certificate issued on or after May 1, 2009.

Please contact our office for additional requirements of applicants under the age of 18.

Fees

Two separate payments are required:

  • The application fee is payable to the U.S. Department of State ONLY by personal check, money order, or cashier's check. (No cash, credit or debit cards).
    The passport book fee is $130 for adults and $100 for minors. The passport card fee is $30 for adults and $15 for minors. For a complete list of fees go to the Passport Services website.
  • The acceptance fee ($35) is payable to BCROD by money order, cashier's check, or cash. We do not accept credit or debit cards or personal checks.
  • NOTE: The acceptance fee increased to $35 on April 2, 2018.

Passport Renewals

While our office does not process or mail renewal applications, we are happy to assist you by looking over your completed renewal form. Our hours are 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. All applicants renewing should mail their applications using a tracable delivery method, such as Priority Mail. Please look over the requrements for renewing a passport here.
